Fault Code 4/22220

Note: If communication with ISAT cannot be established, check whether the +30 supply to the ECU (fuse, relay, leads) is live Also check that the ECU earth connection is OK.

Malfunction indicated
Power-Off test not completed.
The Power-Off monitoring function tests the ETS system every time the power supply is Cut off at the ignition switch.
The power supply remains connected for about three seconds, which is the time it takes to complete the test, and is then switched off.
The fault is caused by loss of the power supply before the Power-Off test has been completed.

Fault symptom
The car goes into Limp Home mode. The TCS CTRL lamp lights up.

Test procedure

1 Switch on the ignition.
Switch the ignition off again after about five seconds and listen for the relay to release in about another three seconds.
If the relay releases immediately the ignition is switched off, check the +3O lead for a short to the +15 supply.
If the relay fails to release, continue with point 3.

2 Check that the ECU's earth connection to the engine's earthing point is OK.

3 With the ignition switch in the Drive position, check the operating voltage for the system relay by measuring the voltage on pin 13.
The correct voltage is about 1.5 V. When the ignition is switched off, the voltage should rise to battery voltage in about three seconds.

4 If there is no voltage on pin 13, check the BU lead between pin 13 and relay pin 85.
Also check that the supply to relay pins 30 and 86 is live.

5 If there is voltage on pin 13 and it rises to battery voltage when the ignition is switched off, unplug the ECU's connector, remove fuse 21 and use the BOB to check the lead from pin 13 for a short to earth/+12 V.
If the lead is OK, go to point 6.

6 With the ECU connected and the ignition in the Drive position, use the BOB to check the voltages according to the table below:

7 Clear the fault codes and start the engine Let it run at idling speed for about five seconds and then switch off the ignition.
Do this twice again and check that the fault code is not generated afresh. If it is, fit a new ETS control unit.
