Calibration of TCS, Manual

Calibration of TCS, manual

Calibration must always be carried out in conjunction with the following:
^ On the first service occasion .
^ Replacement of the ECU, throttle housing or pedal sensor. When any of these components is changed, the settings previously adapted by the system will no longer be valid.
^ On completion of major work on the engine or gearbox.

Note: Calibration can of course also be carried out in conjunction with other service work.

Calibration procedure:

1 Connect SAT to the black diagnostics socket by means of the adapter cable with capacitor, part No 86 11 048. Turn the ignition switch to the Drive position and enter system No.3.

2 Enter command code 971.
The ISAT's display will first show 8A971 and then, after a short while, 8D971. This indicates that the basic setting has been made and the system is ready for calibration.

3 Start the engine and warm it up (until the thermostat opens). When normal operating temperature has been reached, switch off the engine.

4 Select diagnosis on ISAT and again enter system No.3.
5 Check whether any fault codes are still stored in the memory. If there are any, deal with them first and then clear them.

6 With the ignition switch still in the Drive position but with the engine switched off, enter command code 973, ISAT will now display 8A973 and the TCS CTRL lamp will light up.

7 Start the engine again, but do not turn the ignition switch back to the 0 position or touch the pedals.
Calibration is now carried out at idling speed and at about 3000 rpm.

Note: Calibration will stop if any of the pedals is depressed or if the car is moved.

The TCS CTRL lamp will go out when calibration has been completed.

8 Check that no fault code has been set during calibration. Drive the car and check that no fault code is detected.
9 Disconnect ISAT and refit the cover over the diagnostics socket.
