4/24297
Fault Code 4/24297Malfunction indicated
No signal from wheel sensor, rear left
Fault symptom
TCS CTRL lamp on, TCS system and Cruise Control not working
Test procedure
If the ANTI LOCK lamp is also on, the fault is in the ABS system and fault tracing should be carried out as described in the ABS fault-tracing procedures:
1 Plug SAT into the green diagnostics socket.
2 Read the fault codes from the ABS system (No.3)
3 If one or more of the following codes is obtained from the ABS system, fault tracing should be carried out as described in the fault-tracing procedures for the relevant fault code. These ABS fault codes are: 2/44223 - 2/4422C - 2/44253 - 2/44293.
The ANTI LOCK lamp is out.
If none of the above ABS fault codes is obtained.
a. With the ASR control unit connected and the ignition switch in the Drive position, use a BOB to check the voltage on pin 8 of the ASR control unit.
b. If it is about 10 V, change the ASR control unit.
c. If not, check the lead between the ABS and ASR control units for continuity/shorting to earth or +12 V.
A more extensive fault-tracing procedure is described next.
ANTI LOCK lamp out
Check the leads to the ABS and ASR control units as follows:
1 Disconnect the control units and turn the ignition switch to the Drive position. Plug a BOB into the connector of the ASR control unit.
2 Measure the resistance across pins 8 and 13 of the ASR control unit. The correct resistance is OL (no shorting to earth).
3 Measure the voltage across pins 8 and 13 of the ASR control unit.It should be less than 0.1 V (no shorting to +12V).
4 Check the GY lead between terminal 8 of the BOB (pin 8 of the ASR control unit) and pin 12 of the ABS control unit.
The correct resistance is 0 ohms.
If an incorrect reading is obtained in any of the above tests, also check pin 10 of connector H 10-12 for poor contact in connectors.
5 If correct readings are obtained and it is suspected that the fault is an intermittent one, check the connections once more and also tug the leads and connectors, although not too hard.
6 If no fault can be found, clear the fault code and drive the car on test. If the fault code is generated afresh, try another ASR control unit which is known to be OK and test-drive the car again.
