Cruise Control

Malfunction indicated
Cruise Control system faulty or inoperative.

Fault symptom
The Cruise Control system works badly or not at all.

Test procedure

1 Carry out the test procedure for fault code 2/45722 to check the brake and clutch pedal switches.

2 With a BOB connected to the ETS control unit and the ignition switch in the Drive position, check the Cruise Control stalk switch functions by means of ISAT command codes, as follows:

ON/OFF
Enter ISAT command code 202.
In the ON position, the display should show 8B102.
In the OFF position, the display should show 8B002.
If not, check the RD lead between pin 1 of the Cruise Control switch and pin 31 of the ETS control unit for continuity or shorting to earth.

SET SPEED
Enter ISAT command code 203.
When SET SPEED is activated, the display should show 8B103.
When SET SPEED is not activated (off), the display should show 8B003.
If not, check the RD/WH lead from pin 2 of the Cruise Control switch to pin 19 of the ETS control unit for continuity or shorting to earth.

RESUME
Enter SAT command code 204.
When RESUME is selected, the display should show 8B104.
When RESUME is not selected (off), the display should show 8B004.
If not, check the YE lead between pin 3 of the Cruise Control switch and pin 18 of the ETS control unit for continuity or shorting to earth.

3 Using a BOB, check the voltages according to the table below.

4 With the ignition switch in the Drive position, check that battery voltage is present at pin 4 of the Cruise Control switch.
If not, check the BU lead from pin 4 for continuity.
If any of the above command codes have resulted in the wrong numeric code being displayed while voltage is present at pin 4 of the switch and the leads between the switch and the control unit are OK, then the switch is faulty and should be changed.
If not, try an ETS control unit which is known to be OK.
