Oil Pan: Service and Repair





REMOVAL
1. Raise the car, drain the engine oil and detach the front exhaust pipe from both exhaust manifolds. Pull the front exhaust pipe down a little.
2. Remove the cover plate, undo the oil pan securing bolts and remove the oil pan.
3. Remove the bolts in the oil strainer holder. Remove the oil suction pipe's retaining bolts in the oil pump. Remove the strainer. Note the oil suction pipe's O-ring.
4. Remove the antislosh baffles.





INSTALLATION
1. Install the oil anti-slosh baffles. Lock the bolts with (10) 74 96 268, or equivalent and tighten bolts to 8 Nm (6 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the oil suction pipe. Note the O-ring. Lock the bolts with (10) 74 96 268, or equivalent and tighten bolts to 8 Nm (6 ft. lbs.).
3. Apply (10) 81 52 381, or equivalent on the joints in the parting line. The surface should be free from oil and grease.
4. Position the gasket and install the oil pump. Lock the bolts with (10) 74 96 268, or equivalent. See illustration for order and tighten bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
5. Screw on the drain plug to a torque of 55 Nm (41 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the cover plate, install the front exhaust pipe, lower the car and fill the engine oil.
