Relays

D:

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION, RELAYS
Main Relay
When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, current is applied to pin 27 of the control module which grounds pin 46 and the main relay operates. Simultaneously, pin 37 of the control module is supplied with power from pin 87 of the main relay.

NOTE: When the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position (from the ON position) the main relay remains operated for a further five seconds if the coolant temperature is above -4°C (25°F). At lower temperatures the main relay remains operated for 30 seconds.

Fuel Pump Relay
As soon as pulses from the crankshaft position sensor are received on pin 49 of the control module, pin 3 is grounded and the pump relay operates.
