Gear Lever Knob

Removal
1. Remove the gear lever.
2. Secure the gear lever in a vice.
3. Apply tape around the driver, directly below the knob, so that the driver is not damaged or scratched when it is removed.
4. Place a 32 mm open ended wrench under the edge of the knob.
- Carefully tap with a plastic hammer on the key from below.
- Lift out knob and driver.
5. Remove the tape.
- Remove the knob from the driver by pressing in the three plastic hooks on the driver with a small screwdriver.
- (The hooks are accessible under figures 1, 5 and 4 on the knob.)
- Note the steel spring below the knob.

NOTE: A removed gear lever knob must not be installed again, but changed for a new.

Installation
1. Check that the ball race ring is installed on the gear lever. Pull on the driver and the gear lever's gaiter.
2. Install the spring into the driver.
3. Check that figure 4 on the knob is in line with R on the driver and press on the knob on the driver.
4. Check that positions 2, 4 and R on the knob are turned the same way as the pin that sticks out at the bottom of the gear lever. Install the knob loosely on the lever, so that it is secured in its splines.
5. Place the gear lever in a vice. Knock on the knob with your hand or with a light rubber mallet so far down that the driver's stop lug is maximum 0.0-0.5 mm above the reverse gear catch's stop on the gear lever housing.
6. Install the gear lever in the gear lever housing.
