Removal
1. Drape the fenders with protective covers and disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Raise the car, remove the center air shield, position a collecting tray under the engine and drain the coolant.
3. Lower the car and remove the engine covers.
4. Unfasten the cruise control cable, detach the throttle cable from the bracket, unclip the control rod, unfasten the bracket and bend it aside.
5. Undo the hose clamps between the inlet pipes and the intake manifold and between the resonator and the mass air flow sensor and lift the inlet pipes a little. Detach the vacuum hoses and the electrical connectors and remove the pipes with the resonator.
6. Undo the intake manifold bolts, detach the throttle body preheater hoses, the crankcase ventilation hose and the vacuum hoses from the intake manifold. Unplug the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connector, detach the hose to the fuel pressure regulator and remove the wiring harness conduit under the throttle body. Free the throttle position sensor contact and the ignition coil. Detach the Traction Control System (TCS) throttle body electrical connector and lift out the intake manifold.
7. Disconnect the fuel lines and plug the connectors.
8. Remove the bolts securing the center intake manifold complete with fuel rail and place it to one side.
9. Remove the lower part of the intake manifold. Plug with paper.
10. Detach the coolant bridge and bend it aside.
11. Remove the ignition coil and disconnect the ignition leads.
12. Undo the clamps between the oil lines.
13. Raise the car and remove the oil filter. Remove the crankshaft position sensor.
14. Undo the oil lines at the oil filter.
15. Undo the bolt holding the check valve bracket.
16. Lower the car to the floor and remove the pipes at the heat exchanger.
17. Remove the two heat exchanger retaining nuts.
18. Remove the cover and lift out the heat exchanger.
