Shift Interlock Solenoid: Service and Repair

NOTE: Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.





Removal

NOTE: In order to remove the solenoid, the selector housing must first be removed.

1. Place the selector housing in a vice.
2. Set the selector lever to gear position 1.
3. Undo the cable tie and unplug the 2 pin connector.
4. Unplug the 4 pin connector for the solenoid from the selector housing.
5. Remove the 3 solenoid screws and lift the solenoid out of the housing.
6. Remove pin 1 (white lead) from the 4 pin connector.
7. Cut the cable tie and remove the solenoid.





Installation
1. Place the solenoid in the selector housing. Install and tighten the 3 screws.
2. Install the white lead from the solenoid in position 1 in the 4 pin connector.
3. Install connector in selector housing.
4. Plug in the 2 pin connector.
5. Install the cable ties for connector and cables.
