Shift Valves
Valves are illustrated in their positions when the selector lever is set to neutral.
There are three shift valves, one for each gear shifting stage. Shift valve 1-2 provides up shift from gear one to two and downshift from gear two to one. The same principle applies to shift valves 2-3 and 3-4.
Up shift and downshift take place by exposing or closing the passages used for directing system pressure to the control elements. This takes place by the valves changing over from position 1 to position 2 when actuated by governor pressure and throttle pressure.
