Middle Section

NOTE: Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.





1. Remove the cover from the side of the valve body middle section, five screws.
- Hold your hand against the side so that the cover does not fly off as there are several springs on the inside.
2. Lift out the valves and accumulators.
- Place them on the bench in the same order as they are installed in the valve body so that they will be correct when reinstalled.
The following parts are removed:

CAUTION: Do not mix up the parts.

a. Shift valve 3-4
b. Shift valve 2-3
c. Accumulator, time control valve
d. Spring, time control valve
e. Accumulator, clutch C'
f. Spring, accumulator, clutch C'
g. Spring, accumulator, clutch C'

NOTE: The spring is not installed to certain versions.

h. Spring cup, accumulator, clutch C'
i. Accumulator, clutch E
j. Spring, accumulator, clutch E
k. Spring, accumulator, clutch E
l. Spring cup, accumulator, clutch E
m. Spring, system pressure valve
n. Spring, system pressure valve
o. System pressure valve





3. Press in the time control valve with one finger and remove the clip using a screwdriver, then remove the valve and the small spring.
4. Remove the clip from clutch C'.
- Remove the valve.
5. Remove the clip from clutch E.
- Remove the valve.
6. Remove the other cover from the middle section of the valve body, 5 screws.
- Hold the cover with your hand so that it does not fly off as there are several springs on the inside.
- On models with turbocharger, be careful not to damage the gasket.





7. On all models, lift out the valves and place them on the bench in the same order as they are installed in the valve body so that they can be correctly reinstalled.
- On models with turbocharger, the shift sequencing valve has an O-ring, if this is not OK, upshift does not work.
- On all models, the following parts are removed:

d. Spring, shift sequencing valve 1-2-3
e. Spacer, shift sequencing valve 1-2-3
f. Cylinder, shift sequencing valve 1-2-3
g. O-ring, shift sequencing valve body valve 1-2-3
h. Spring, shift sequencing valve 1-2-3
i. Shift sequencing valve 1-2-3
j. Spring, lock-up valve 1+R
k. Lock-up valve 1+R
l. Spacer, modulator valve
m. Spring, modulator valve
n. Spring, downshift valve 4-3
o. Spacer, downshift valve 4-3
p. Downshift valve 4-3
q. Spacer, downshift valve 4-3
r. Spring, traction valve 3-4
s. Spring cup, traction valve 3-4
t. Pin, traction valve 3-4
u. Spacer, traction valve 3
v. Traction valve 3-4
w. Spring, traction valve 4-3
x. Traction valve 4-3
8. Remove the clip from the modulator valve.
- Then remove the valve.
