Side Airbag Replacement



WARNING: Read through Technical description carefully before starting work.

Replacement

1. Ignition switch in the OFF position.
2. Slide the seat forwards as far as it will go




3. Unscrew the seat at the rear, 2 screws.
4. Slide the seat rearwards and undo the 2 screws at the front.
5. Tilt the seat rearwards, cut the cable tie and unplug the 29-pin connector under the seat.
6. Remove the covers from the seat rail.
7. Lift the seat out of the car.




8. Detach the lower edge of the seatback upholstery fabric.
9. Remove the upholstery retaining strip at the bottom.
10. Snip the staples securing the board to the upholstery fabric. Withdraw the sheet of cardboard.




11. Detach the rear section of the backrest upholstery fabric by removing the upholstery retaining strip and folding the fabric to one side.
12. Remove the upholstery retaining strip along the edge at the rear of the backrest frame.




13 Unplug the side airbag's connector.
14 Remove the side airbag, 3 nuts.
15 Lift out the side airbag.

Replacement

Fit In Reverse Order.

Check the SRS and control module, using the Tech2 instrument, as follows:

With the ignition switch in the ON position, plug the Tech2 instrument into the data link connector under the dashboard. Clear any diagnostic trouble codes that may be present.

Switch off the ignition and switch it on again. Wait at least 10 minutes with the ignition switched on.

Check whether a diagnostic trouble code is displayed:

If a diagnostic trouble code is displayed:

Carry out fault diagnosis according to the instructions in the diagnostic trouble codes.

If no diagnostic trouble code is displayed:
The side airbag has been successfully fitted. Unplug the Tech2.
