Longitudinal Link, 4WD
Longitudinal link, 4WDTo remove
1. Raise the car.
2. Remove the wheel.
3. Remove the wheel sensor wiring harness (A) from the longitudinal link.
4. Remove the parking brake cable from the holder (B) on the longitudinal link.
5. Remove the front mounting (C) of the longitudinal link and detach the parking brake cable holder (D) from the mounting.
6. Use a jack to raise the lower link arm slightly to relieve the load on the shock absorber. Remove the lower bolt of the shock absorber (A).
7. Remove the bolts (B) holding the longitudinal link to the steering swivel member. At the same time, detach the holder of the wheel sensor connector (C).
8. Lower the longitudinal link.
9. Remove the bracket from the link.
To fit
1. Clamp the bracket in a vice. Fit the longitudinal link and tighten the bolt and nut so that the link turns sluggishly.
2. Align the link so that the center of the lower hole in the link rests approx. 3 mm (A) above a hypothetical line from the bracket. Tighten the bolt and nut.
Tightening torque 75 Nm + 90 degrees (55 ft. lbs. + 90 degrees)
3. Lift the longitudinal link into place.
4. Fit the wheel sensor connector holder (C) and insert the bolts (B) of the steering swivel member. Check that the wheel sensor wiring harness lies in the opening between the steering swivel member and the longitudinal link.
5. Tighten the bolts (B) which hold the longitudinal link to the steering swivel member.
Tightening torque 150 Nm (110 ft. lbs.)
6. Fit the lower shock absorber mounting (A). Remove the pillar jack.
Tightening torque 148 Nm +90 degrees (109 ft. lbs. +90 degrees)
7. Fit the front mounting (C) of the longitudinal link to the parking brake cable holder (D).
Tightening torque 90 Nm + 90 degrees (52 ft. lbs. + 90 degrees)
8. Fit the parking brake cable in the holder (B).
9. Fit the wheel sensor wiring harness (A) to the longitudinal link.
10. Fit the Wheel.
