A number of heating wires are fastened to the inside of the rear window glass. On the 4D Saab 9-5 these heating wires also serve as an antenna for the audio system.

The glass in the door mirrors also has heating conductors.

The electrical heating is automatically engaged by the ACC or by using the switch in the ACC panel.

The ACC control module then sends a message to DICE, relay for heating ON.

The electrical heating's activation time depends on the outside temperature:
- 30 degrees C = 0 minutes
- 0 degrees C = 9 minutes
- -40 degrees C = 12 minutes
