Cylinder Head Replacement - Right Side




Cylinder Head Replacement - Right Side (5.3L)

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (5.3L) (Intake Manifold Replacement).
2. Remove the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement (Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement).
4. Remove the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side (Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side).
5. Remove the pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. If equipped, remove the auxiliary air conditioning (A/C) bracket nut (2).
7. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal - Right Side (Cylinder Head Removal - Right Side).
8. Clean and inspect the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection (Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation - Right Side (Cylinder Head Installation - Right Side).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. If equipped, install the auxiliary A/C bracket nut (2) and tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement (Service and Repair).
4. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement (5.3L) (Intake Manifold Replacement).
5. Install the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side (Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side).
6. Install the coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement (Engine Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Replacement).
7. Install the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement (Service and Repair).
