Circuit/System Description
The driver information center (DIC) illuminates the Rear Access Open message when the liftgate module detects the liftgate ratchet and the liftgate sector switches are closed to ground indicating the liftgate is open. The instrument panel cluster receives a serial data message from the liftgate module indicating the liftgate ajar status.
Diagnostic Aids
For the Rear Access Open message to malfunction would require a fault in both the ratchet and sector signal circuits. This kind of failure would result in the liftgate to become inoperative in the manual mode and the power mode.
