CPP sensor, per cent
Circuit/System Description
The clutch pedal position sensor (CPP) is a three-lead sensor connected to a 5 V reference circuit, a low reference circuit and a signal circuit. The engine control module (ECM) feeds 5 V to the CPP sensor and also provides the sensor a ground connection via the low reference circuit. The voltage in signal circuit varies between less than or equal to 5 V when the clutch pedal is released and less than or equal to 1.5 V when the clutch pedal is depressed.
Conditions for Running the DTC
P0806, P0807, and P0808
- DTCs P0641, or P0651 are not set.
- The system voltage is greater than 9 V.
- The ignition is in the DRIVE position.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
P0806
The CPP sensor value has stuck within the range limits.
P0807
The CPP sensor voltage is lower than 0.1 V for more than 1 s.
P0808
The CPP sensor voltage is higher than 5.2 V for more than 1 s.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
DTCs P0806 and P0808 are Type A DTCs.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTCs P0806 and P0808 are Type A DTCs.

Circuit/System Verification
1. 1. If DTCs P0335, P0336, P0607, P0641, P0651 or P080A are registered, refer to Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) list - vehicle
2. Ignition ON, observe the diagnostic tool per cent parameter for the CPP sensor. The per cent value shall vary between 0 % with the clutch pedal fully released and 100 % with the pedal fully depressed.
3. Carry out the CPP programming function. See Clutch Pedal Position Sensor Programming. Testing and Inspection
4. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset.
Circuit/System Testing
1. With the ignition OFF, disconnect the cable connector for the B25B clutch pedal sensor.
2. Ignition OFF, check if the resistance is less than 1 ohm between the low reference circuit terminal A and ground.
=> If the resistance is greater than the specified value, check if there is an open circuit or a high resistance in the low reference circuit. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
3. With the ignition ON, check if the voltage between the 5 V reference circuit terminal C and ground is in the range 4.8 to 5.2 V.
=> If the value is less than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to ground or open circuit/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
=> If the value is greater than the specified range, test the 5 V reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
4. Ignition on, check if the diagnostic tool voltage parameter for the CPP sensor is lower than 0.1 V.
=> If the value is greater then the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
5. Connect a test lead with a 3 amp fuse between the signal circuit terminal B and the 5 V reference circuit terminal C. Check that the diagnostic tool indicates a value of 4.8-5.2 V for the CPP sensor parameter.
=> If not within the stated range, check if there is a short to ground or an open circuit/high resistance in the signal circuit. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K20 Engine Control Module.
6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the B25B clutch pedal position sensor.
Component Testing
- With the ignition OFF, disconnect the cable connector for the B25B clutch pedal sensor.
- Measure the resistance between the signal pin B and the low reference pin B on the B25B clutch pedal position sensor. Depress the clutch pedal fully. The resistance shall vary between high and low and vice-versa without peaks or dips.
=> If the resistance is uneven with peaks or dips, replace the B25B clutch pedal position sensor.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
- Clutch Pedal Position Sensor Replacement
- See Control Module References for ECM replacement, setup and programming.
