C0236
C0236-TCS RPM SIGNAL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTIONThe ECM provides the Electronic Brake And Traction Control Module (EBTCM) with engine rpm data via serial data message. The EBTCM uses this information for TCS operation.
DTC PARAMETERS
DTC C0236 will set if the following conditions exist:
^ EBTCM receives an incorrect engine rpm message 3 seconds after start-up.
^ The EBTCM continuously monitors for invalid data.
When DTC C0236 is current:
^ The TCS LED is turned Off.
^ The EBTCM will disable TCS.
^ ABS telltale is not illuminated.
^ ABS is not disabled.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Using Scan tool, view the ECM data and monitor the engine speed while the engine is running. The engine rpm data should display proper rpm at idle.
Check for any ECM DTCs. Check for any EBTCM communication DTCs. Diagnose any communication DTCs first.
Possible causes for DTC C0236:
^ Proper connection.
^ Backed-out terminals.
^ Broken connector locks.
^ Corrosion in connectors/terminals.
^ Burned, chafed, or pinched wiring.
^ A broken wire inside the insulation.
^ Loose components.
^ EBTCM not receiving message from the ECM.
