Plenum Top Panel

PLENUM TOP PANEL

REMOVAL





1. Remove all related panels and components.
2. Restore as much of the damage as possihie to factory specifications.
3. Note the location and remove the following as necessary:
- Sealers
- Sound Deadeners
- Anti-corrosion materials

CAUTION: WHEN USING TOOLS THAT MAY CREATE SMOKE WHEN CUTTING URETHANE SEALANT, WORK SHOULD BE DONE IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA AND/OR WITH A NIOSH/MSHA APPROVED AIR SUPPLIED RESPIRATOR TO PREVENT POSSIBLE HARMFUL EXPOSURE. WHEN THE URETHANE ADHESIVE IS HEATED ENOUGH TO GIVE OFF SMOKE, HIGH LEVELS OF METHYLENE DIISOCYANATE (MDI) MAY BE PRESENT. UNPROTECTED EXPOSURE TO METHYLENE DIISOCYANATE MAY RESULT IN SEVERE, CHRONIC, DEBILITATING RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS.

IMPORTANT: Do not damage any inner panels or reinforcements.

4. Locate and drill out all mctory welds. Note the number and location of welds for installation of the plenum top panel.
5. Remove the damaged plenum top panel.

INSTALLATION

1. Drill 8 mm (5/16 in) plug weld holes as necessary in locations noted from the onginal panel.
2. Prepare all attachment surfaces as necessary.
3. App[y 3M(R) Weld-Thru Coating P/N 05913 (or equivalent) to all bare-metal surhces.
4. Position the plenum top panel, align, and clamp in place.
5. Use MIG to plug weld.
6. Clean and prepare all welded surfaces.

NOTE: It is important that proper corrosion protection processes are used on all repair areas. Apply sealers and corrosion protection materials according to the paint manufacturer's recommendations.

IMPORTANT: To restore waterleak protection, sealer must be replaced.

7. Apply the following as necessary.'
- Anti-corrosion materials
- Sound deadeners
- Sealers

8. Refinisb as necessary.
9. Install all related panels and components.
