Performance Test - Service Stall

IMPORTANT:
^ If the ambient air temperature is lower than 5°C (40°F), the A/C compressor will not be enabled.
^ This test must be performed in a service stall environment that protects the vehicle from wind that could cause incorrect pressure/temperature readings.

1. Open hood and leave open during the entire test.
2. Install manifold gauge set to high and low side service ports.
3. Disconnect vehicle thermal expansion valve (TXV) thermistor electrical connector and connect a thermistor that is exposed to ambient air.
4. Start engine and warm to operating temperature. Use Scan tool to verify coolant temperature is being thermostatically controlled approx. 190°F (88°C).
5. Install thermometer in right center outlet.
6. Open doors and windows to stabilize interior air temperature with outside ambient air temperature.
7. Depress RECIRC button.
8. Set temperature knob to full cold.
9. Select 3rd blower speed.
10. Depress A/C button.
11. Run Engine at 2000 RPM using Scan tool IAC control.
12. Continue running until system pressures and outlet temperature stabilizes. Usually 4 to 8 minutes.
13. Record system pressures and outlet temperature.
14. Compare readings to normal system performance charts then continue down diagnostic flow chart.
15. When test is complete, re-connect electrical connector for vehicle TXV thermistor.
