Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Pad Replacement - Upper

REMOVAL




1. Disable SIR system. (Refer to "SIR Disable/Enable [For Frontal and Curtain Inflators]" procedure.
2. Disconnect negative battery cable.
3. Remove A-pillar garnish molding plug.
4. Remove fastener then remove A-pillar garnish molding.




5. Remove screws and gently pull rearward at clip locations to remove I/P filler panel (knee bolster).




6. Remove left end panel by pulling outboard at rear edge to disengage retention clips and then rearward from I/P.




7. Disconnect I/P harness from door jamb switch and remove end panel.




8. Remove right end panel by pulling outboard at rear edge to disengage retention clips and then rearward from I/P.
9. Open G box, remove push-pins, then pull right end panel and remove panel.




10. Disconnect I/P harness from door jamb switch and remove end panel.




11. Open I/P compartment and turn door stops 1/4 turn and remove door stops.




12. Move shiftier to neutral position.
13. Pull up at rear edge of horseshoe bezel first disengaging retention clips, up over shifter assembly then down and back at front to gain access to underside switch connections.




14. Disconnect window switches, mirror switch and cigar lighter and remove horseshoe bezel.




15. Remove lower I/P front console storage compartment to I/P retainer screws and upper storage compartment to radio bezel screws and I/P front console storage compartment.




16. Pull lower edge of radio bezel rearward disengaging lower clips then upper portion rearward disengaging upper clips.




17. Disconnect HVAC controller.
^ Temperature Cable
^ Blower Switch
^ 20-way connector




18. Disconnect:
^ Airbag telltale
^ Foglamp switch/TCS
^ Dimmer switch
^ Hazard switch




19. Remove upper steering column shroud.




20. Remove cluster bezel to I/P top cover screws and pull rearward at lower clip locations and remove cluster bezel.




21. Remove right deflector assembly to intermediate duct fastener.




22. Remove I/P cover to cross car beam bolt covers and cover to beam bolts.
23. Remove I/P cover to I/P retainer screws at lower edge of cover and at radio opening.
24. Remove I/P cover by lifting then rearward passenger side first then walking cluster opening around steering wheel and I/P cover out door opening.

INSTALLATION
1. Install I/P.
2. Install I/P to I/P retainer screws.
3. Install I/P to cross car beam bolts
4. Install I/P to cross car beam bolt covers by positioning and snapping into place.




5. Align cluster bezel retention clips with corresponding slots in I/P retainer and snap into position by applying light pressure at clip locations.
6. Install cluster bezel to I/P screws.




7. Install upper steering column shroud by aligning locating pins in upper with corresponding holes in lower and applying a light downward force to snap into position.




8. Center temperature knob of HVAC controller by inserting assembly alignment tab into centering slot of temperature knob shaft.




9. Center HVAC Module temperature door by aligning cable lug of temperature control cable with center point of detent spring (detent spring force should hold temperature door in desired position for assembly).




10. Install temperature cable assembly to HVAC controller with knob and temperature door centered.
11. Connect I/P harness to blower switch and HVAC controller.




12. Connect I/P harness to:
^ Airbag telltale
^ Foglamp switch
^ Dimmer switch
^ Hazard switch




13. Install radio bezel by inserting upper front edge clips first, sliding bezel forward while holding down on front edge of bezel to engage upper retention clips then pressing forward at lower clip location engaging lower clips.




14. Install I/P front console storage compartment and screws.




15. Connect wire harness to window switches, mirror switch and cigar lighter.
16. Move shifter to neutral position.




17. Install front edge of horseshoe bezel first over shift assembly making sure to engage alignment pins and front edge tabs with corresponding slots at bottom of radio bezel, clear wires and lower back edge snapping into place by pressing down.
18. Put shifter in Park position.




19. Install right deflector assembly to intermediate duct screw.




20. Connect I/P harness to door jamb switch and install right end panel by inserting tabs at back of panel with corresponding slots in I/P and snapping into place by applying light force at clip locations.




21. Connect I/P harness to doorjamb switch and install left end panel by inserting tabs at back of panel with corresponding slots in I/P and snapping into place by applying light force at clip locations.




22. Install I/P filler panel (knee bolster) by aligning retention tabs on panel with corresponding slots in retainer and pressing forward at clip locations to snap into place.
23. Install filler panel to retainer screws.




24. Position I/P compartment door to I/P retainer assembly and install door pins.
25. Install I/P compartment door stops by inserting with 1/4 turn to lock into position.




26. Install A-pillar garnish moldings.
27. Enable SIR system. (Refer to "SIR Disable/Enable [For Frontal and Curtain Inflators]" procedure.
