Oil Distribution

NOTE: When adding PAG compressor oil to Saturn R134A A/C systems it is necessary to use the appropriate PAG compressor oil released for that system. Using the incorrect PAG compressor oil could damage the refrigerant system. Reference Saturn Part Catalog for correct PAG compressor oil recommendation.

Saturn VUE air conditioning system requires 207 ml (7.0 oz.) of PAG compressor oil. Service compressors have 118 ml (4.0 oz.) of PAG oil installed.

New oil quantities must be added to system during component replacement and conditions stated as follows:
With no signs of excessive oil leakage add:
A. Compressor Remove, drain and measure oil. Subtract 118 ml (4.0 oz.) from the recorded amount. If the value calculated is negative, remove that amount of oil from A the new compressor. If the value calculated is positive. add that amount of new PAG oil to the new compressor.
B. Evaporator - Add 30 ml (1.0 oz.) of new PAG compressor oil.
C. Condensor - Add 30 ml (1.0 oz.) of new PAG compressor oil.
D. Receiver/Dehydrator - Drill one 12.7 mm (0.50 in.) hole in the receiver/dehydrator cylinder and drain the oil into a graduated container. Add drained amount plus 59 ml (2.0 oz.) of new PAG compressor oil.
E. Add 20 ml (0.75 oz.) of new PAG compressor oil for the following repairs.
^ Installation of new TXV
^ Installation of pressure relief valve
^ Repair of and O-ring/seal washer leak
^ Repair of a charge port leak
