Brake Switch (Cruise Control): Adjustments
CRUISE BRAKE SWITCH ADJUSTMENTNOTE: Proper cruise brake switch adjustment is essential. Improper cruise control release switch adjustment may cause brake drag, heat buildup and excessive brake lining wear.
1. Disconnect cruise brake switch electrical connector.
2. Rotate cruise brake switch counterclockwise and remove cruise brake switch from switch retainer.
IMPORTANT:
^ Do not depress brake pedal assembly during cruise brake switch installation. Depressing brake pedal will cause a brake drag condition.
^ Adjust stop lamp switch and cruise brake switch at the same time.
3. Install cruise brake switch.
3.1 Position switch into retainer with electrical connector index notch pointing to the 1 o'clock position.
3.2 Slide switch in retainer until plunger is fully depressed into barrel.
3.3 Rotate switch clockwise until travel stop has been reached (approximately 600).
3.4 Inspect cruise brake switch to insure switch is properly locked into switch retainer with cruise brake switch electrical connector index notch pointing to the 3 o'clock position.
4. Connect cruise brake switch electrical connector.
5. Inspect stop lamps for proper operation.
6. Use Scan tool to monitor CRUISE BRAKE SWITCH in ECM General Information data table, while depressing and releasing the brake pedal. Verify the APPLIED and RELEASED states read correctly
