Turn Signal Switch: Service and Repair

MULTI-FUNCTION BRACKET

REMOVAL

1. Remove SIR module.

NOTICE: Do not use hammer to remove steering wheel. Damage may occur to the EPS system.

2. Remove steering wheel.
3. Remove SIR coil.
4. Disconnect battery.
5. Remove lock cylinder bezel, by prying off with a thin blade screwdriver.





6. Remove shroud fasteners and remove upper and lower shrouds.





7. Depress lock tabs and remote left and right multi-function levers.





8. Disconnect housing electrical connectors.





9. Remove lock housing bolts.
10. Separate ignition housing from multi-function lever bracket and slide bracket from column.

INSTALLATION





1. Pre-assemble lock housing and multi-function lever bracket. Hand tighten bolts, leaving approximately 3.2 mm (0.125 inch) gap at both bolts.

IMPORTANT: Ensure lock tab fully engages into column slot.

2. Slide bracket onto column.





3. Hand tighten lower bolt until snug.
4. Hand tighten upper bolt until snug.
5. Tighten lower bolt.
Torque:
Lower Bolt: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
6. Tighten upper bolt.
Torque:
Upper Bolt: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)





7. Install ignition housing electrical connectors.

IMPORTANT: Ensure both locking tabs are seated.





8. Install multi-function levers.





9. Install upper and lower shrouds using screws and tighten.
Torque:
Shroud Screws: 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.)
10. Install lock cylinder bezel (snap fit).
11. Install SIR coil.
12. Install steering wheel.
13. Install SIR module.
