Service Manual Update for 2002 VUE Chassis Service Manuals Regarding Differential Housing Support Rushing Removal and Installation

MODELS AFFECTED:
2002 Saturn VUE vehicles equipped with All Wheel Drive (AWD) (RPOs M16 & M45)

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this bulletin is to update "Differential Housing Support Bushing Replacement" procedure in all 2002 VUE Chassis Service Manuals.

NOTICE:
Orientation of differential housing front support hushing is different between vehicles equipped with V-6 and 4-cylinder engines. If these bushings are orientated incorrectly, excessive engine idle shake will occur. The service procedure in this bulletin applies to only the differential housing front support bushings. The differential housing rear support bushing is unaffected.

Please obtain all 2002 VUF Chassis Service Manuals at your location and update as indicated below.

1. Make photocopies of the update in this bulletin as necessary.

2. Cross out existing "Differential Housing Support Bushing Replacement" procedure on page 279 with marker or pen and insert photocopy between pages 27 and 279.

DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING SUPPORT BUSHING REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED

^ J44866 Support Bushing
Remover/Installer

IMPORTANT:
Use high pressure lube supplied with tool.

1. Install Support Bushing Remover/Installer J44566. Tighten nuts to force out the bushing.





IMPORTANT:
The housing support bushings have two relief slots which are used for tuning.

^ For vehicles equipped with V-6 engines install the 2 front support bushings with the relief slots (1) in the 12 and 6 o'clock position.

^ For vehicles equipped with 4-cylinder engines install the 2 front support bushings with the relief slots (2) in the 3 and 9 o'clock position.

2. Install Support Bushing Remover/Installer J44866. Tighten nuts to force the bushing in.
