Seat Cushion Cover (Rear) - Loose/Drawstring Cut

SUBJECT:
Rear Seat Cushion Cover Loose with Drawstring Cut (Install Protective Sleeves and Felt Tape to Seat Frame and Install New Scat Cover)

MODELS :
2002 Saturn VUE vehicles

CONDITION:
Some customers may comment the rear seat cushion cover is baggy or loose along the bottom edge. This condition may be more noticeable along the front edge of the lower seat cushion. Along with looseness of the cover they may also notice a string hanging out from under the seat cover edge.

CAUSE:
This condition is caused by the seat cover drawstring being cut on the sharp edges of the seat frame drawstring hooks.

CORRECTION:
To correct this condition install protective sleeves and felt tape to seat frame and install new seat cover. Refer to service procedure in this bulletin.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove rear seat cushion cover from vehicle. Refer to "Rear Seat Cushion Pad/Cover" removal procedure in the Seats section of the 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manual.

2. Install protective sleeves P/N 22704198 over drawstring hooks on bottom of seat frame. Only 2 of the 6 exposed hooks are to be used. The hooks that are used are the ones nearest the inboard edge of the seat legs.

3. Use 2 large felt pieces from Kit P/N 21056020. Fold each piece in half lengthwise and secure each piece to the vertical part of the channel so half of it is on the inside and half is on the outside. Make sure the end of the felt piece is flush with the end of the channel where it meets the seat frame.

IMPORTANT:
When installing seat cushion pad/cover to seat flame, attach seat cover cushion drawstring to the 2 seat frame hooks that have the plastic tubing on them. Attachment to other seat frame hooks is not necessary.





4. Install new rear seat cushion cover and original cushion pad to vehicle. Refer to "Rear Seat Cushion Pad/Cover" installation procedure in the Seats section of the 2002 VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manual.
