(Replace the Front and Rear Transmission Mounts)

Models Affected:
2002-2003 VUE vehicles with manual transmission (MG3) built prior to and including VIN breakpoint 38851169

Attention: Parts Manager, Technician

Condition

Some customers may comment on a vehicle vibration or shudder with the transmission in reverse, especially when the vehicle is under a load condition such as backing up a hill.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the transmission mounts transferring powertrain vibrations into the spaceframe.

Correction

To correct this condition, replace the first and second design transmission mounts with the new third design mounts (P/N 22716367 - Front, P/N 22716366 - Rear) and perform a powertrain mount balance procedure. Refer to the "Mount Replacement and Powertrain Mount Balance" procedures in the 2002-2003 VUE Chassis Service Manual.
