Starter Remains Engaged After Engine Start Up and/or Electrical Accessories Are Inoperative Intermittently (Replace Ignition and Start Switch Housing Assembly)
MODELS AFFECTED:
2002 2003 Saturn VUE Vehicles
CONDITION:
Some customers may comment that the starter remains engaged after engine start up. Customers may also comment about the intermittent loss of electrical accessories. Some of the accessories that may lose power include the radio, power windows and HVAC blower fan.
CAUSE:
This condition may be caused by the ignition lock bolt release spring binding. The ignition lock bolt release spring is located inside the ignition and start switch housing assembly.
CORRECTION:
To correct this condition, replace the ignition and start switch housing assembly. Refer to the service procedure in this bulletin.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Replace ignition and start switch housing assembly P/N 22692788. (Refer to "Ignition Module/Passlock Sensor Removal and Installation Procedures" located in the Locks and Security Section of the 2002 or 2003 Saturn VUE Body Removal and Installation Service Manual.)
2. Verify that the condition is not present.
