29. Fluid Pump Assemble

FLUID PUMP ASSEMBLE

^ TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 35582 Oil Pump Seal Installer





IMPORTANT: Do not touch fluid seal lip.

1. Apply transaxle fluid to the inner surface of fluid pump body.
2. Using Oil Pump Seal Installer J35582, install a new fluid seal (200). The seal end should be flush with the outer edge of pump body.





3. Apply transaxle fluid to the surface of fluid pump body.

IMPORTANT: The index mark (dot) on the drive gear is installed down. The index mark on the driven gear is installed up.

4. Install fluid pump drive (205) and driven gear (204) to fluid pump body (202).





5. Apply transaxle fluid to the new O-ring.
6. Install new O-ring seal (206) onto fluid pump body (202).

IMPORTANT: Be sure to align holes properly when installing fluid pump plate.

7. Align fluid pump plate (207) hole with dowel pin of fluid pump body (202).





8. Align fluid pump stator shaft assembly (208) with each bolt hole of fluid pump plate (207) and hand tighten only 13 torx bolts. Refer to next illustration for tightening sequence of 14.5 mm, bolts that are left out.





9. Tighten torx bolts in sequence shown.
Torque: Torx Bolts (14.5 mm): 12 Nm (9 ft. lbs.)
Torque: Torx Bolts (17 mm): 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.)





IMPORTANT: Be careful not to damage fluid seal lip.

10. Make sure the drive gear rotates smoothly when it is installed to torque converter.
