31. 2ND Coast Clutch Assembly

2ND COAST CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

^ TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 23327 Clutch Spring Compressor
- J 41236 Coast Clutch Spring Compressor
- J 45164 Spring Compressor Bridge





1. Apply transaxle fluid to O-rings.
2. Install inner seal (221) and outer seal (223) onto 2nd coast clutch piston (222).
3. Apply transaxle fluid to inner surfaces of fluid pump cover.
4. Press second coast clutch piston (222) into fluid pump cover.





5. Install 2nd coast spring assembly (224).





6. Place the plate J21420-2 and J23327-2 which are part of Clutch Spring Compressor J23327 and Coast Clutch Spring Compressor J41236 on second coast spring, and compress springs.
7. Using J28585 install retaining ring (225) into groove of fluid pump stator shaft assembly..





IMPORTANT: Make sure you have the correct number of plates, and that they are in the correct order.

8. Install steel plates (227) and fiber plates (228).
9. Install second coast clutch backing plate (229).





10. Place Spring Compressor Bridge J45164 on backing plate, and compress springs with a shop press.
11. Install 2nd coast clutch backing plate retaining ring (230) into groove of stator shaft.
