A/C Pressure Sensor

A/C Pressure Sensor:

The Air Conditioning (A/C) pressure sensor is located in the A/C high side pressure refrigerant line on the front side of the A/C compressor. The pressure sensor is a transducer that varies resistance according to the absolute pressure inside the high side refrigerant line. The sensor is used by the ECM to turn the cooling fan On if the A/C high side pressure is greater than 1247 kPa (181 psi) during A/C operation. The ECM will not turn Off the cooling fan until the pressure drops below 824 kPa (120 psi). The sensor is also used by the ECM to turn Off the A/C relay if the refrigerant pressure is not within 314-3043 kPa (46-441 psi). The normal maximum range of the sensor can vary from 0.25 volts at 101 kPa absolute (14.7 psi absolute) to 4.75 volts at 3400 kPa absolute (453 psi absolute).
