2. Torque Converter and Differential Housing Inspection
TORQUE CONVERTER AND DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING INSPECTION1. Inspect transaxle fluid baffle for damage. Replace if necessary.
Torque: Fluid Baffle Bolts: 11 N.m (8 ft. lbs.)
2. Inspect variable driven pulley bearing assembly for damage. Replace if necessary.
3. Inspect bearing cup for front differential drive pinion gear for damage. Replace if necessary.
4. Inspect front differential carrier bearing cup for damage. Replace if necessary.
5. Inspect torque converter and differential housing assembly for the following:
^ Cracks
^ Porosity
^ Sharp edges
^ Excess gasket material left on any case surfaces
6. Inspect bolt holes for thread damage. If necessary, repair any bolt holes.
NOTICE: After cleaning the torque converter and differential housing assembly, allow housing assembly to air dry. Do not use cloth or paper towels in order to dry housing assembly or any other transaxle components. Lint from towels can cause component failure.
IMPORTANT: Dirty solvent can deposit sediment that could damage transaxle.
7. Thoroughly clean housing assembly, including threads, with clean solvent.
8. Clean gasket sealing surfaces. Remove all residual sealant and/or gasket material.
