11. Torque Converter and Differential Housing Installation
TORQUE CONVERTER AND DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING INSTALLATION^ TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 36850 Assembly Lubricant
IMPORTANT: There are two different drive sprocket thrust washers. The thrust washer on the transaxle case side is marked with a light blue paint stripe and has a slightly smaller inside diameter than the thrust washer on the torque converter and differential housing side.
1. Apply Assembly Lubricant J36850 to the prong-side mating surface of thrust washer without the light blue paint stripe.
2. Install thrust washer onto torque converter and differential housing assembly.
IMPORTANT: Apply sealant on the inside mating surface around bolt holes.
3. Apply a 6 mm (0.25 inch) bead of sealant (GM P/N 9985552) to the mating surface of the transaxle case assembly.
4. Carefully install torque converter and differential housing assembly on transaxle case assembly.
5. Secure torque converter and differential housing assembly to transaxle case assembly with bolts in sequence shown.
Torque: Case Assembly Bolts: 22 N.m (16 ft. lbs.)
