13. Case Cover Assembly Installation

CASE COVER ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

^ TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 43969 Case Cover Lifting Bracket
- J 44337 Build Plate Assembly
- J 44996 Input Carrier Alignment Tool





1. Attach shorter legs of Case Cover Lifting Bracket J43969 to the open bolt holes on drive pulley cover.
2. Attach longer legs of Case Cover Lifting Bracket J43969 to the open bolt holes on driven pulley cover.





3. Install new case cover O-ring seals on transaxle case assembly.

IMPORTANT: Apply sealant on the inside mating surface around bolt holes.

4. Apply a 6 mm (0.25 inch) bead of sealant GM P/N 9985552 to mating surface of transaxle case assembly.





5. Using a suitable lifting device, carefully lift case cover assembly (with forward clutch and input shaft) out of the Build Plate Assembly J44337 and lower into transaxle case assembly.





6. Using Input Carrier Alignment Tool J44996 on the end of input shaft, align reverse carrier into reverse clutch hub assembly.
7. Remove case cover lifting bracket J43969.





IMPORTANT: Two of the 14 case cover bolts are longer than the other bolts, These 2 bolts are used for the driven pulley cover.

8. Secure case cover assembly to transaxle case assembly with 4 case cover bolts. Tighten in sequence shown.
Torque: Case Cover Bolts: 22 N.m (16 ft. lbs.)





9. Install 2 remaining bolts on drive pulley cover.
Torque: Driven Pulley Cover Bolts: 11 N.m (8 ft. lbs.)
10. Install 2 remaining bolts on driven pulley dover.
Torque: Drive Pulley Cover Bolts: 11 N.m (8 ft. lbs.)
