Oil Filter: Service and Repair
ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT- L811. Raise vehicle.
2. Using a 24 mm wrench or 3/8 drive ratchet, loosen the oil filter cap while draining oil into approved container.
3. Remove the oil drain plug and drain the oil into a container.
4. Remove the oil filler cap and element.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the oil filter cap O-ring seal is not stuck on oil filter housing.
5. Grasp the cap and lightly tap the element into the recycling container or trash receptacle.
6. Install the new element onto the oil filter cap.
7. Inspect oil cap seal for damage, replace if necessary.
8. Lightly screw on the oil cap and filter element until resistance is felt.
9. Using a 24 mm wrench or 3/8 drive ratchet, tighten the oil filter cap.
Torque:
Oil Pan Filter Cap - L81: 15 N.m (11 ft. lbs.)
10. Inspect oil drain plug for damage, replace if necessary.
11. Clean and install oil drain plug.
Torque:
Oil Drain Plug - L81: 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.)
12. Lower vehicle.
13. Fill the engine with new engine oil.
Capacities
Engine Oil - L81: 4.7 L (5 qt.)
14. Start engine and check for leaks.
15. Check engine oil level after engine is off for two minutes; add oil if necessary.
16. Reset "Change Oil Soon" tell tale lamp.
