Suction/Discharge

REMOVAL

IMPORTANT: Verifying the purity of the refrigerant with a refrigerant identifier before recovery is recommended.




1. Recover refrigerant using an approved refrigerant recovery system. Measure the amount of oil lost during recovery and record.
2. Remove left headlamp.




3. Unclip suction hose to battery box clip.




4. On L81 vehicles, remove suction hose to suction hose jumper joint nut and line.
5. Install protective cap to suction hose to prevent contamination and desiccant saturation.




6. On L61 vehicles, remove suction hose to TXV nut and line.
7. Install protective cap to suction hose to prevent contamination and desiccant saturation.




8. Remove discharge line to condenser nut and line.
9. Install protective cap to condenser to prevent contamination and desiccant saturation.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SURELY POSITIONED. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.

10. Raise vehicle.




11. Disconnect pressure transducer




12. Loosen suction/discharge to compressor bolt 7-8 turns and remove block from compressor by moving block away from compressor then up.
13. Install protective cap to compressor to prevent contamination and desiccant saturation.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Do not lubricate seal washers.




1. Remove protective cap from compressor end of compressor hose assembly and compressor. Install new seal washers and install hose block to compressor.

Torque:
Compressor Hose Assembly to Compressor: 27.5 N.m (20 ft. lbs.)

2. Connect engine harness to pressure transducer.
3. Lower vehicle.




4. On L61 vehicles, remove cap from TXV end of hose and TXV and install new seal washer then hose.

Torque:
Seal Washer - TXV : 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.)




5. On L81 vehicles, remove caps from suction hose and suction jumper and install new seal washer then hose.

Torque:
Seal Washer - Suction Hose : 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.)




6. Remove protective cap from condenser end of discharge hose assembly and condenser and install new seal washer then hose.

Torque:
Seal Washer - Discharge Hose :16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.)




7. Clip suction hose to battery box.
8. Install left headlamp.
9. Evacuate, charge, and leak check the A/C system.
