Variable Induction Control Solenoid: Service and Repair

INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL (IMRC) SOLENOID

REMOVAL
1. Ignition Off.
2. Loosen battery hold down cover screws and remove battery cover.
3. Disconnect intake manifold runner control solenoid (IMRC) harness connector.

4. Remove vacuum hose from bank 2 intake manifold runner diaphragm.
5. Remove clamp from power brake booster vacuum hose at intake manifold and remove vacuum hose.
6. Remove IMRC solenoid attachment screw.
7. Remove both vacuum lines from IMRC solenoid and remove IMRC solenoid.

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT: The vacuum line that goes to both diaphragms is attached to the solenoid vacuum port that faces down, which is perpendicular to the electrical connector.

1. Reconnect both vacuum lines to IMRC solenoid noting that the vacuum line to the diaphragms attaches to the vacuum port perpendicular to the electrical connector.
2. Install IMRC solenoid and IMRC solenoid attachment screw to the intake manifold.
Torque:
Intake Manifold Runner Control Solenoid to Intake Manifold Screw: 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.)
3. Connect power brake booster vacuum hose with clamp to intake manifold.
4. Connect vacuum hose to bank 2 intake manifold runner diaphragm.
5. Connect IMRC solenoid harness connector. Push connector in until the lock position is felt, than pull back to confirm engagement.
6. Install battery cover and tighter hold down screws.
