Stabilizer Bar Stop Ring

STABILIZER BAR STOP RING

REMOVAL

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.

1. Raise vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove left side stabilizer bar clamp-to-cradle bolts.





3. Remove left side stabilizer clamp and bushing from stabilizer bar.

NOTICE: Failure to mark stabilizer bar bushing ring location on stabilizer bar may result in stabilizer bar bushing failure and excessive stabilizer bar lateral movement. Stabilizer bar bushing ring must be installed in proper place on stabilizer bar.





4. Mark stabilizer bar on both sides of stabilizer bar bushing ring by drawing two lines onto stabilizer bar to verify location of stabilizer bar bushing ring.
5. Remove metal coupling from stabilizer bar bushing ring by gently tapping on coupling with a hammer and a punch.





6. Remove stabilizer ring plastic inserts.

NOTICE: Hold ball stud from turning when removing nut. The boot can become torn and damaged if the ball stud turns.





7. Remove left side stabilizer bar-to-link nut and separate link from stabilizer bar.
8. Slide stabilizer bar bushing ring coupling from stabilizer bar assembly.

INSTALLATION

NOTICE: Failure to install stabilizer bar bushing ring properly on stabilizer bar may result in stabilizer bar bushing failure and excessive stabilizer bar lateral movement. Stabilizer bar bushing ring must be installed in correct place on stab bar assembly.





1. Install metal stabilizer bar bushing ring metal coupling onto stabilizer bar.
2. Install stabilizer bar bushing ring plastic inserts onto stabilizer bar assembly between scribed marks.

NOTICE: Stabilizer bar bushing ring must be compressed tight enough so the stabilizer bar bushing plastic inserts do not move.





3. Verify that stabilizer bushing ring is in its correct location on stabilizer bar and does not move.
4. Using special tool Stop Ring Installer J45646 compress stabilizer bar bushing ring and stabilizer bar bushing ring plastic inserts together.





5. Install stabilizer bar bushings.
6. Install stabilizer bar clamps.
Torque:
Stabilizer Bar Clamp-to-Frame Bolts: 50 N.m (37 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE: Hold ball stud from turning when installing nut. The boot can become torn and damaged if the ball stud turns.





7. Install left side stabilizer bar-to-link nut and tighten nut.
Torque:
Stabilizer Bar-to-Link Nut: 65 N.m (48 ft. lbs.)
8. Lower vehicle from hoist.
