30. 2ND Clutch Assemble

2ND CLUTCH ASSEMBLE





IMPORTANT: Soak the new clutch plates in transaxle fluid for at least 2 hours before installing them.

1. Inspect that the sliding surface of plates are not worn or burnt. If plates are worn or burnt, replace them.
2. Apply transaxle fluid to the new O-rings.
3. Install new O-ring seals (209, 211, 213) onto 2nd clutch piston (210).
4. Apply transaxle fluid to the inner surfaces of fluid pump cover.





5. Press piston into fluid pump cover.

IMPORTANT: Do not damage fluid pump cover.

6. Install second clutch piston return spring retaining ring (214).





7. Install second clutch spring (215) onto piston with spring side up.





IMPORTANT: Make sure you have the correct number of plates, and that they are in the correct order.

8. Install steel plates (218) and fiber plates (217).
9. Install second clutch backing plate (219).





10. Using J28585, install second clutch backing plate retaining ring (220). Make sure the end gap of retaining ring is not aligned with any of the cutouts.
