Manual Downshifts

Shifts between all forward gears are controlled by the shift solenoids, not the manual valve. "Manual" downshifts are accomplished by the TCM, based on the Transaxle Range Switch input.

2. Accelerate the vehicle to 72 km/h (45 mph) in 5th gear.
3. Release the accelerator pedal while moving gear selector to Intermediate.
4. Verify the following:
^ The TCC releases
^ The transaxle downshifts immediately to 3rd gear
^ The engine slows the vehicle

Manual 5-2 Downshift

2. Accelerate the vehicle to 72 km/h (45 mph) in 5th gear.
