Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
REAR DRIVE AXLE INSTALLATIONINSTALLATION
NOTICE: Always install a new axle retaining clip prior to axle installation.
1. Install axle seal protector into seal. Remove protector after axle splines pass the seal.
NOTICE: Ensure slinger is not damaged.
2. Install drive axle into rear drive module. Ensure axle is fully seated and retaining clip is in locked position, verify with hand-pull check.
3. Install knuckle onto drive axle (align splines).
4. Install washer and new nut.
Torque:
Rear Drive Axle Nut: 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.)
5. Install jounce bumper to control arm and loosely install nut.
IMPORTANT: Ensure insulator is properly positioned onto spring, spray silicon on the insulators for easier installation.
IMPORTANT: Ensure spring is properly seated.
6. Position spring with rubber insulators into vehicle. Place jack stand securely under lower control arm and slowly start to compress the spring.
IMPORTANT: Bolt heads to face towards rear of vehicle.
IMPORTANT: Guide stabilizer link into control arm.
7. Align lower control arm to knuckle. Insert fasteners and tighten.
Torque:
Lower Control Arm-to-Knuckle Fastener: 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.)
8. Align shock and install bolt to lower control arm.
Torque:
Shock-to-Lower Control Arm Bolt: 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.)
9. Remove jack stand.
10. Tighten jounce bumper nut.
Torque:
Jounce Bumper Nut: 63 Nm (46 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: Hold link from turning with wrench while tightening.
11. Position stabilizer link to lower control arm and tighten.
Torque:
Stabilizer Link-to-Lower Control Arm Nut: 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
12. Push upward on trailing arm and install front bolt. Use drift to help align rear holes. Install bolts and tighten.
Torque:
Trailing Arm Bolts: 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.)
13. Install wheel and tire.
14. Install wheel nuts and tighten in a crisscross pattern.
Torque:
Wheel Nuts: 125 Nm (92 ft. lbs.)
15. Lower vehicle.
16. Check rear alignment. Align as necessary.
