Bulletin No.: 04-07-30-004

Date: January 26, 2004

SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE

Subject:
Service Manual Update - Add Sealant to Two Upper Transmission-to-Engine Bolts

Models:
2004 Saturn VUE Vehicles
with 3.5L Engine VIN 4 - RPO L66)

Attention:
Technician

Purpose

The purpose of this bulletin is to communicate service information for applying sealant to factory-installed coated bolts in two cylinder block locations to eliminate potential engine oil leaks. Early production 2004 Saturn VUE vehicles, equipped with the 3.5L engine (RPO L66), were built without having coating on the two upper transmission-to-engine bolts. To prevent the potential to develop an oil leak at this location, a mid-model year production change was made to add coating to the two upper transmission-to-engine bolts.

When re-installing the two upper transmission-to-engine bolts, apply sealant, Saturn P/N 21485277 (GM P/N 12345382, Canada P/N 10953489), or equivalent. Refer to the "Transmission Replacement" or "Engine Replacement" procedures located in the 2004 Saturn VUE Transmission or Engine Service Manual.

The eSI website will be updated immediately and future Service Stall System SI CD releases will include this and other Service Manual updates.
