Transfer Case Driven Gear with Shaft Assembly Overhaul

Transfer Case Input Shaft Bearing Replacement

- Tools Required
- DT 46509 Tube Style Driver, 40 mm I.D.
- J 22912-01 Split Plate Bearing Remover
- DT 46424 Bearing Puller






Important:
- Tapered roller bearing(s) and outer race(s) should be replaced as a set.
- Inspect and adjust the bearing preload whenever the bearing is replaced or reinstalled.
- Check the bearing for wear and rough rotation. If the bearing is OK, removal is not necessary.

1. Place a shaft protector (3) between transfer output shaft (913) and DT 46424 (1) in order to prevent damaging the shaft.
2. Using DT 46424 (1), J 22912-01 (2), and the shaft protector (3), remove the transfer case driven gear with shaft front bearing (914) from the transfer case driven gear assembly (913).

Installation





1. Using DT 46509, install the transfer case driven gear with shaft angular 22 mm x 76 mm x 19 mm front bearing (914) onto the transfer case driven gear with shaft (913) ensuring that the bearing is properly seated on the shaft.
2. Inspect and adjust the transfer case driven gear with shaft installed height as necessary.
