Condition
Some customers may comment on an SVS "wrench" telltale illuminated while driving. DTC P0571 (Cruise Control Brake Switch Error) may be set or recorded in vehicle PCM.
Cause
The current PCM calibration may set DTC P0571 if the customer applies light brake pedal force that positions the brake switch and the cruise control brake switch at different values for more than 30 consecutive seconds.
Correction
Reprogram the PCM with a new calibration available on Saturn Service Stall (SSS) version 3.0/2005 or greater.
Service Procedure
Important:
Before installing new PCM calibration, make sure the Saturn Service Stall (SSS) version is 3.0/2005 or greater.
Important:
With the ignition off, apply the parking brake to disable Daytime Running Lights (DRL) prior to starting the reprogramming procedure.
1. Technicians must select "Replace and Reprogram" option in order to re-calibrate the vehicle. Install appropriate calibration ID from TIS 3.0/2005 or greater. Refer to calibration information table in this bulletin to select appropriate calibration.
2. Reprogram the PCM identified by the SSS, version 3.0/2005 or greater for 3.SL V-6 engine (RPO L66). Refer to "Service Programming System (SPS)" in the Vehicle Control Systems section of the 2004 Saturn VUE Service Manual, Volume 2 or 2005 Saturn VUE Service Manual, Volume 4 (SI Document ID #1265170 for both years) for reprogramming procedure.
