101. Main Control Valve Body and Fluid Pump Assembly Installation

Main Control Valve Body and Fluid Pump Assembly Installation





1. Ensure that the transmission magnet chip collector (137) is clean and properly installed in the torque converter housing (150). Clean and reinstall the magnet chip collector, if necessary.
2. Install the main control valve body spacer plate (244) using both control valve body spacer plate locating pins (243) into the torque converter housing (150).





3. Install the automatic transmission fluid pump drive gear (234) into the transmission torque converter housing (150).
4. Install the automatic transmission fluid pump driven gear (232) into the transmission torque converter housing (150) with its grooved and chamfered side facing down as shown.
5. Install the automatic transmission fluid pump driven gear pin (233) into the transmission torque converter housing (150).





6. Install the main control valve body assembly (250) to the torque converter housing assembly (150) using the following flanged bolt/screws:
- 2 M6 x 1.0 x 40mm (221)
- 2 M6 x 1.0 x 30mm (222)
- 3 M8 x 1.0 x 32mm (223)
- 3 M6 x 1.0 x 20mm (224)






Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

7. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
- Tighten all M6 bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.)
- Tighten all M8 bolts to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)






Notice: Properly align the fluid pump driven gear pin in order to prevent a seized fluid pump driven gear, seized fluid pump drive gear, and transmission failure.

8. Inspect that the automatic transmission fluid pump drive gear (234) and the automatic transmission fluid pump driven gear (232) rotate smoothly by hand.
9. If the gears or the shaft do not move smoothly, loosen all the main control valve body bolts, realign the fluid pump driven gear pin (233), retighten the bolts to the specified torques, and recheck for a smooth operation of the gears and proper pin movement.





10. Install the torque converter check valve 35.1 mm return spring (226) into the main control valve body (250).
11. Install the torque converter check valve (225) into the main control valve body (250) in the correct direction.
12. Install the oil cooler steel 7/32 inch check ball (228) into the main control valve body (250).
13. Install the oil cooler 14.5mm return spring (227) into the main control valve body (250).
