48. Output Shaft Idler Gear and 4TH Gear Axial Clearance Inspection
Output Shaft Idler Gear and 4th Gear Axial Clearance Inspection1. Install the 2nd driven gear (523) on the output shaft (524).
2. Install the 2nd driven gear 65 mm x 83 mm x 4.5 mm thrust bearing (522) on the output shaft (524).
3. Install the 1stand 2nd idler gear 57 mm x 65 mm x 28.7 mm inner bearing (521) on the output shaft (524).
4. Install the 1st and 2nd idler gear (520) on the output shaft (524) as shown in the insert.
5. Install the 2nd idler gear 56 mm x 87.5 mm x 5.5 mm thrust bearing (519) on the output shaft (524).
6. Install the 1st driven gear 56 mm selective spacer (518) on the output shaft (524).
7. Install the 1st driven gear (517) on the output shaft (524) as shown in the insert.
8. Install the 3rd and 4th driven gear (500) on the output shaft (524) as shown in the insert.
9. Install the 3rd and 4th driven gear 52 mm selective spacer (501) on the output shaft (524).
10. Install the 3rd and 4th driven gear 39 mm split retaining ring (502) on the output shaft (524).
11. Install the 3rd and 4th driven gear 39mm split retaining ring cap (503) on the output shaft (524).
12. Install the 3rd and 4th driven gear 39mm split retaining ring cap retainer (504) on the output shaft (524).
13. Insert a feeler gage blade (1) as thick as possible between the 3rd and 4th driven gear (500) and the 3rd and 4th driven gear 52 mm selective spacer(501).
14. Set the dial indicator (1) on the 1st and 2nd idler gear (520). Zero the dial.
15. Measure the 1st and 2nd idler gear (520) axial clearance in at least 3 places on the gear. Use the average of the 3 measurements as the actual clearance.
Specification:
- The clearance should be between 0.005 mm-0.040 mm (0.0002-0.0016 inch).
16. If the measurement exceeds 0.040 mm (0.016 inch), remove the 1st driven gear 56 mm selective spacer (518) and measure its thickness.
17. Select and install a NEW 1st driven gear 56 mm selective spacer (518) in order to obtain the specified clearance, then recheck for proper clearance.
18. Measure the clearance between the 3rd and 4th driven gear (500) and the 3rd and 4th driven gear 39 mm split retaining ring (502) with a feeler gage (1) in at least 3 places. Use the average of the 3 measurements as the actual clearance.
Specification:
- The clearance should be between 0.005 mm-0.040 mm (0.0002-0.0016 inch).
19. If the measurement exceeds 0.040 mm (0-016 inch), remove the 3rd and 4th driven gear 52 mm selective spacer (501) and measure its thickness.
20. Select and install a NEW 3rd and 4th driven gear 52 mm selective spacer (501) in order to obtain the specified clearance, then recheck for proper clearance.
