62. 2ND Clutch Disassemble
2nd Clutch Disassemble- Tools Required
- J 21420-2 Plate
- J 23327Spring Compressor
- J 28585 Snap Ring Remover
- J 45124 Adjustable Bridge
Important: The belleville plate located in the 2nd clutch piston is crimped to the 2nd clutch piston; and is not to be detached from the piston.
1. Using J 28585, remove the 2nd clutch, backing plate retaining ring (739), from the 2nd clutch assembly (756) and then remove the following:
- Selective clutch backing plate (740)
- Steel plates, and the fiber plates (741, 742)
Important: Do not place the end of special tool over an area of the spring retainer cap that is unsupported by the clutch return spring.
2. Install the J 45124 on the 2nd clutch assembly. Ensure the J 45124 is adjusted to have full contact with the 2nd clutch piston return spring cap (744).
3. Using J 23327 (1), J 45124 (2) and J 21420-2 (3), compress the 2nd clutch piston return spring (745) until the 2nd clutch piston return spring cap, retaining ring (743) can be removed from the 2nd clutch housing (749).
4. Remove the 2nd clutch piston return spring cap, retaining ring (743) and remove the tools.
5. Remove the following components from the 2nd clutch housing (749):
- 2nd clutch piston, return spring cap, retaining ring (743).
- 2nd clutch piston return spring, retaining cap (744).
- 2nd clutch piston return spring (745).
6. Install the 2nd clutch housing (749) onto the 1st and 2nd clutch shaft (736).
Caution: When you use compressed air in order to clear fluid passages and to dry parts, always aim the air pressure away from face and eyes. Always wear adequate eye protection in order to avoid injury from dirt and debris that may adhere to parts.
7. Apply compressed air to the 2nd clutch apply port located in the 1st and 2nd clutch shaft.
