Liftgate Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear wiper arm. Refer toWiper Arm Replacement - Rear in Wipers/Washer Systems.
2. Remove the rear washer nozzle. Refer toWasher Nozzle Replacement - Rear in Wipers/Washer Systems.
3. Open and support the liftgate.
4. Remove the liftgate pull strap. Refer toPullstrap Replacement - Liftgate (Pullstrap Replacement - Liftgate) .
5. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer toTrim Panel Replacement - Liftgate (Trim Panel Replacement - Liftgate) .
6. Remove the liftgate wiring harness. Refer toWiring Harness Replacement - Liftgate (Service and Repair) .
7. Remove the rear speakers from the liftgate. Refer toSpeaker Replacement - Rear in Entertainment.
8. Remove the wiper motor. Refer toWiper Motor Replacement - Rear in Wipers/Washer Systems.
9. Place protective coverings over adjacent body panels.
10. With a grease pencil mark the location of the liftgate hinge to the liftgate.

Notice: Refer toLiftgate Assist Rod Notice in Cautions and Notices.

11. Remove the struts from the liftgate. Refer toStrut Replacement - Liftgate (Service and Repair) .
12. With an assistant, remove the bolts from the liftgate hinge.




13. With an assistant, remove the liftgate from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. With an assistant, align marks on liftgate with liftgate hinges.

Notice: Refer toFastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. With an assistant, install the liftgate hinge bolts.

Tighten the hinge bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

3. Install the liftgate struts. Refer toStrut Replacement - Liftgate (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the protective coverings.
5. Install the wiper motor. Refer toWiper Motor Replacement - Rear in Wipers/Washer Systems.
6. Install the rear speakers to the liftgate. Refer toSpeaker Replacement - Rear in Entertainment.
7. Install the liftgate wiring harness. Refer toWiring Harness Replacement - Liftgate (Service and Repair) .
8. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer toTrim Panel Replacement - Liftgate (Trim Panel Replacement - Liftgate) .
9. Install the liftgate pull strap. Refer toPullstrap Replacement - Liftgate (Pullstrap Replacement - Liftgate) .
10. Remove the support and close the liftgate.
11. Install the rear washer nozzle. Refer toWasher Nozzle Replacement - Rear in Wipers/Washer Systems.
12. Install the rear wiper arm. Refer toWiper Arm Replacement - Rear in Wipers/Washer Systems.
