Condition
Some customers may comment on a squeak or rattle noise from the instrument cluster area of the vehicle interior.
Cause
The instrument cluster bezel may make contact with the instrument cluster lens, which may cause a squeak or rattle noise.
Correction
Refer to the service procedure below to move or install a foam isolator.
1. Remove the cluster trim panel screws.
2. Pull out to remove the cluster trim panel.
3. Locate the foam isolator at the top of the instrument cluster bezel. Move the existing foam or install a new piece of foam so that the foam is flush with the outside edge of the bezel.
4. Reposition the cluster trim panel. Push forward to install the panel.
Note:
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
5. Install the cluster trim panel screws.
Tighten
Tighten the cluster trim panel screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).
