Axle Beam: Service and Repair




Support Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).




3. Remove the exhaust muffler and resonator assembly. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LAT or LE5) (Service and Repair)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LZ4) (Service and Repair)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LY7) (Service and Repair)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LCS) (Service and Repair).
4. If equipped with all wheel drive, remove the rear drive axle. Refer to Differential Replacement (Differential Replacement).
5. Remove the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement (Rear Suspension).
6. Remove the stabilizer shaft links from the support. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Rear Suspension).
7. Remove the lower control arm from the support assembly. Refer to Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement (Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement).
8. Disconnect the upper control arm from the support assembly. Refer to Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement (Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement).
9. Disconnect the adjustable link from the support assembly. Refer to Adjust Link Replacement (Rear Suspension).




10. Remove the support to body bolts and remove the support assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the support assembly to the vehicle.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the support to body bolts and tighten to 170 Nm (125 lb ft).
3. Install the adjustable link on the support assembly. Refer to Adjust Link Replacement (Rear Suspension).
4. Connect the upper control arm to the support assembly. Refer to Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement (Rear Axle Upper Control Arm Replacement).
5. Install the lower control arm to the support assembly. Refer to Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement (Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement).
6. Install the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement (Rear Suspension).
7. Install the stabilizer shaft links to the support. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Rear Suspension).
8. If equipped with all wheel drive, install the rear drive axle. Refer to Differential Replacement (Differential Replacement).




9. Install the exhaust muffler and resonator assembly. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LAT or LE5) (Service and Repair)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LZ4) (Service and Repair)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LY7) (Service and Repair)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LCS) (Service and Repair).
10. Install the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
11. Lower the vehicle.
12. Check the rear alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement (Service and Repair).
